Just like water doesn’t boil until it reaches 212F – the boiling point – there are times the “seed” that has been planted doesn’t burst forth and come into the natural for a certain number of days or time. Think about a seed. First of all, a seed is a part of a previously prolific green plant. When the plant has matured, it develops seeds that turn brown and die on the plant and then drops to the ground. It lies in the cool, dark earth until the soil reaches the correct temperature to trigger growth in the seed. Very slowly, a tiny sprout will break open the seed and the new roots begin to go down deeper into the soil as the new green life begins to grow towards the sunlight and fresh air. Finally what once was a tiny, dead seed is now a fully mature, prolific, green plant that bears fruit.
Thats us. In order to mature into a life giving, mature, healthy person who has something to offer the hurting world around us, we must first die and go through dark times, patiently putting down deep roots into the soil of Gods Word. Slowly, the green part grows upwards closer and closer to the sunlight, into the open where those around us can see that we have been with Jesus, learning and growing and changing into His likeness.
Patience gives us the power for the capacity to grow and succeed.
How we wait is so important. Those dark, waiting, miserable seasons of our lives are of utmost importance. Without those low times, we would never have the capacity or stamina to understand how to truly help others. We wouldn’t have the depth of character necessary to be a vessel fit for our Masters use. We are waiters. What do waiters do? They serve. Serving others, serving God quietly, without making a show of it is crucial. It’s the only kind of serving that counts. Luke 21:19 says “In your patience you possess your soul.”
Are we waiting on God with eager expectation? This season of waiting until the promise is fulfilled is so important. Your attitude and heart posture has everything to do with receiving the promise. All Gods promises are yes and amen! But waiting – expecting – is where faith becomes sight. Do we truly believe what God has spoken?
Something to watch out for…. are we supposed to be waiting or has the enemy derailed us? Patience, waiting, faith… all so very important. But with this, we must speak things into existence. Just as God spoke the world into existence, He has given us power in our own lives to speak life into the dead, barren places. Wow! What are things that God has promised you? What are you believing God for? God rewards faith tremendously. I have seen mountains move when i have spoken out loud the promises of God. Praising Him while I am waiting, reminding Him what He has promised me, serving Him and others while I wait for things to change, soaking up His Word. It’s all so very important and gives us a deep, firm foundation that wont be uprooted when the heavy storms come.
But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. -Romans 8:25
Let us not grown weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up. -Galatians 6:9
